The human origin
Ten years of clients taught me what a reading should feel like — and what it shouldn't.
Before Heaven's Astrolabe existed, I spent a decade reading charts in private practice — first in a small consulting room in Bloomsbury, then in a walk-up in the West Village. I sat with people in the middle of breakups, career pivots, grief, and the long quiet question of whether they were on the right path at all.
I learned that a good reading isn't about prediction. It's about being seen with enough precision that the person in front of you recognises their own life, and walks out a little less afraid of it.
When I moved to Lisbon in 2010 and started thinking about building something larger, I kept returning to one frustration: the clients who arrived after a bad reading elsewhere — panicked by a stranger's careless sentence about Saturn, or shut down by a vague horoscope that never once asked their birth time. I wanted a place where the chart was treated like the serious symbolic document it is, and where the reader was someone I would have introduced to a friend.
Heaven's Astrolabe opened in 2011 with three astrologers and a paper notebook. We are now thirty-two astrologers, a fourteen-person operations team in Lisbon, and a 1,040-page in-house archive — but the notebook is still on my desk, and the rule is still the same: would I send my own mother to this reader?
